Season’s Greetings from East Hamilton (2020)

Season’s Greetings from East Hamilton is a series of greetings cards showing scenes from the neighbourhood I’ve lived in since 2018. I remember my parents getting cards on holidays, or from travelling friends. “Holiday Greetings from Florida!” – that sort of thing. I always got a kick out of them, and thought I would try my hand at making a small edition with scenes closer to home.

I’ve been collecting vintage greeting card masks for the darkroom for a number of years; many are from the 1950s, and celebrate a range of holidays and milestones. In Season’s Greetings From East Hamilton, I’ve paired my documentary images together with Christmas themed masks, printing them using an old box of Kodak Azo paper. This box of paper was manufactured in 1977 and is a crisp single weight.

The photographs were taken between 2018 and 2020
